Our history: Ipswich Mower’s has a rich family history that dates back to the 1950s. The journey beings with Vic Vermeer, who started sharpening guillotine knifes, tools, handsaws, and hand mower blades after work in his spare time. Opening a sharpening and repair store in Limestone Street, Ipswich, “Vermeer’s Engineering” in EST 1955. Vic along with his wife Audrey, started a weekly delivery service to printing presses throughout Brisbane & Ipswich, offering a guillotine knife grinding service along with selling Pace mowers and chainsaws as "Vermeer’s Lawnmower Sales and Service". In 1972 we became "Ipswich Mower & Saw Service PTY LTD" and 1979, Vic took on a well-known German Chainsaw brand called STIHL to become one of the first Stihl Dealer in Ipswich. Today, Ipswich Mower & Saw Service is still family-owned and operated by the Vermeer family, with Jon & Karen taking over from Vic and Audrey in 1991. Working alongside them was Jim, (Jon's Brother) and Chris, their sister. In 2003 Ipswich Mowers moved to Yamanto and opened a brand-new shop front with STIHL, where we have continued to build upon the family business.
